You do not make God real with your thoughts, words, actions. Know, instead, that you are held in Love. You are made by Love. Today, pause, and let go of sense that you must create or maintain anything by your own effort and will and feel Love holding you tightly.

Today, feel that there is a divine, powerful principle governing. This Principle organizes thoughts, reveals truth, uncovers what is hidden, reveals next steps, and promotes a sense of depth, purpose, meaning, and effectiveness. Today, pause to acknowledge and feel this Principle at work.
In the book Mastering Creative Anxiety, Eric Maisel shares this wisdom:
"You can significantly reduce your experience of anxiety by refusing to appraise situations as more important, more dangerous, or more negative than they really are . . . The key question is 'Is this really dangerous?' . . . 'What is the actual threat level here?'" Today, when you feel anxious, honestly appraise the threat level. Tell yourself the truth. For an anxious person, almost all threats will be lower than you have made them in your thoughts. Love supports you in rational and wise thinking. In the Bible, God says, "I will joy over you with singing." Love joys over us. Joy as a verb means to take great delight, to greatly value, to appreciate, to feel keen pleasure, to recognize what is good and satisfying. Today, be willing to open yourself to the idea that Love joys over you. Feel this joy. Accept it. Take it in. Bask in it. In spite of your self-doubts and fears and regrets, Love joys over you.
This is your discipline for today: whenever an anxious or busy or fearful or confused thought arises, let it be embraced by Love. Feel the presence of Love loving it and loving you. Let go of an urgent need for answers, an overdeveloped sense of responsibility, or a sense of helplessness. Just feel Love embracing and loving and let go. Love gives you the power and the ability to do this.
You are not responsible for making God real in your own life or the lives of others. Love is real and active. Love made you; you are not creating Love. Although you may feel that your job is to manage yourself and others, your most important job is to pause and feel Love's presence. If feeling Love's presence is difficult, just pausing and opening to the possibility of Love's presence is enough. If that is difficult, just turning your thoughts for the briefest of moments toward Love is enough - enough for divine Light to blast through, melt hardened hearts and stubborn opinions, open paths that seemed closed, and reveal possibility and healing - one gentle step at a time.
Eric Maisel in the book Mastering Creative Anxiety writes:
"Anxiety arises in us when we fear that our efforts do not matter, and it arises in us when we do the creative work that matters to us. Since anxiety will arise in either case, decide to do work that matters to you, even if doing so produces anxiety. Refuse to countenance the thought that you and your efforts do not matter - really banish that thought - and accept that when you opt to matter you will provoke anxiety that you will then have to master." Today, soften your rumination about whether or not you or your work matters and make a commitment to what feels important to you, what you love, to what questions or struggles engage you. Know that making this choice may bring up anxiety, so don't be anxious about the anxiety. Hold it gently, with compassion and good humor. |
