BEAR MOUNTAIN HUDSON RIVER BRIDGE was opened in November, 1924, and is the longest in the world, 2,252 ft. It was carved almost entirely out of solid rock, and contains 12,552 tons of steel. Its huge cables are 17 in. in diameter, each containing 7,252 wires, making over 3,500 miles of wire in each cable.
