DISPLAYING THE NATIONAL FLAG-I: On a speaker's platform it should be displayed above and behind the speaker. When flown at half staff the flag is hoisted to the peak for an instant, and then lowered to the half staff position, but before lowering the flag for the day it is raised again to the peak.
What has caused the mood that I am in tonight? Everybody "why?ing" and "don'ting" me! Why am I not more tactful? Why don't I go out and meet lots of boys, dance and have a good time? Why don't I take more interest in church work - that suits my type!!! Don't smoke, don't be a flapper, don't sit at home and sew. Why go to night school - experience is better? Why don't I study at night - it will be a great benefit! Ye, gads! What shall I do? An answer - please John and be true to my own soul and mind! A touch of your hand - this morning and the day's work was no burden. Afternoons like yesterday's and today's work was a pleasure.

ContextThis is the journal of Virginia Lee Scott, my grandmother, written when she was seventeen and first dating my grandfather, John Arnold Wilson. It's a dairy published by Media Drug Stores and includes space for two entries per day, with facts about the era printed at the bottom, which I have included in italics. Following, 1928, is the journal of John Arnold Wilson, my grandfather, at age nineteen and in love with my grandmother, followed by my grandmother's journal in 1931. Archives
