Today, know that your work is in service of Love's work. Love's powerful presence moves and you move. You are not a separate and alone, working to feel safe and avoid discomfort. Today, as you make choices, pause to acknowledge that you are part of Love's activity.
Today, any place your body is tight or in pain, feel the presence of Love right there, embracing. Release into that Love. Any place in your consciousness you feel shame or fear, open there to the presence of Love. Love embraces places of resistance or discomfort with sweet, powerful, and unconditional love. Yield into that love. Accept that love.
Today, accept the presents that Love offers. Accept a compliment, without deflecting or downplaying - just with genuine appreciation. Accept of offer of help, without guilt, if it would be useful to you. Notice the presents that are being bestowed on you: a sunny day, a friend, a pet, growing things, good stories or music, an unexpected connection with someone. Accept your presents, take them in, know them as evidence of Love's love for you, showering you in affection and support. Notice your tendency to reject goodness-and counter it. Be open. Receive. Say thank you.
Today, the most important improvement you can make is how you speak to yourself and what emotions you send to yourself. Improvement does not begin with your eating or exercise or time management habits, not your activism or productivity. Today, begin by holding yourself with gentleness and forgiveness, without blame. Send yourself love, unconditional and powerful. Your ability to do this comes from Love itself working through you.
Today, don't try so hard. Don't try so hard to be good. Don't assume Love requires of you, today, sacrifice and suffering. Love may be giving you joy and affection and asking you to accept it. Don't try so hard to meet your standards, which may have nothing to do with Love's standards. Time is not a clock you race against but a space for Love to love you.
Today, trust that whether or not you can see it in this moment, Love is an active power in your life. Right now. Love is working in your career. Love is working your body. Love is working in your relationships. Love is working in your consciousness. Love is present and intelligent. Let go and trust Love's work.
Psalms says, "I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."
Today, know that the fastest, most successful way to satisfaction with yourself and your life is not self-improvement techniques, but awakening to your spiritual nature and identity. Today, begin by knowing that you have a spiritual nature, radiant and strong, a reflection of Love itself. The thoughts and actions that stem from that awareness will have power and inspiration and effectiveness.
From Sharon Salzberg's book Real Love:
"To truly love ourselves, we must challenge our beliefs that we need to be different or inherently better in order to be worthy of love. When we contort ourselves, doggedly trying to find some way to become okay, our capacity to love shrinks, and our attempts to improve ourselves fill the space that could be filled with love.
Maybe we don't need to correct some terrible deficiency. Maybe what we really need is to change our relationship to what is, to see who we are with the strength of a generous spirit and wise heart."
