In handling self-doubt, they encourage us to ask: "Is it helpful?"
I think that questions could be applied to many choices in our day. Would this activity, thought, approach be helpful in achieving my long term goals, in being a healing force, in being the kind of person I want to be, in having a life that feels rich in health, purpose, meaning, and joy?
Should I eat this? Should I exercise today? Should I take a nap? Should I read this book or watch this show? Should I have that conversation? Should I take on that new responsibility? Should I drop that obligation? Is it helpful?
