My greatest enemies reside within me, certain tendencies of thought and behavior that cause me suffering. I fight them as if they are enemies, with limited success. What if, instead, I loved them? This does not mean enabling or indulging them. It does mean that instead of attacking them as if they are enemies -- feeling self-judgment, fear, criticism, helplessness, anger, I embrace them with Love. I feel Love surrounding me as a transformative presence. This Love hold me in forgiveness and affection and is more powerful than any tendency that would work against me.
