Maddy's mother has died, but she "feels her mother sometimes as a glow in her brain, a knock in her heart, as a whisper she can't quite hear. And then there are times when she thinks her mother takes on the form of something else, like this doe, appearing from out of the woods to stand by her, if only from a distance. Maddie sees this as wordless reassurance, as fulfillment of the promise Mr. Rogers made."
Today, notice all the helpers in your life. Those who bestow on you big kindness and small. Loved ones and strangers. Authors, musicians, writers. Animals. Those whose work (farmers, truckers, maintenance workers, accountants, etc.) support your life. Or a formless sense of the presence of love and comfort. A wise thought or creative ideas that moves through your mind. Accept and appreciate the help. The helping, and the appreciating, is the work of Love.
