All the while, Love is trying to give us more. More joy. More companionship. More rest. More play. More richness. More meaning. More creativity. More opportunity. More peace. We sometimes turn down these offers, or are blind to them, because we define our worth by our depletion, our sacrifice.
Love wants us to sacrifice only that which harms us: our sense of worthlessness, of smallness, of limited joy and limited possibility.
This does not mean Love does not want us to be of service, but the most effective service--the healing, transformative kind--comes from a sense of fullness. (Bring to mind the people in your life who have given you the most and inspired you the most. Are they worn and depleted or full and generous?)
