Local professor and life coach Carolyn Foster sent this out as her December inspiration: "Each person is born with an unencumbered spot, free of expectation and regret, free of ambition and embarrassment, free of fear and worry, an umbilical spot of grace," writes physician-author Rachel Naomi Remen. . . . "It is this spot of grace that issues peace." When I am under the illusion that hard work or right choices will ensure security or success, words such as this bring me to my senses. As I shed my illusions of control, I find rest for my spirit. May you return to your own unencumbered spot often as you move through these last weeks of the year!
