As a counter to those tendencies, spend today recognizing gifts that are being given to you. See strengths is those you know and be grateful for the ways those strengths contribute to your well-being. Recognize the ways in which the labor and creativity of strangers bless your life (writers, cooks, computer programmers, gardeners, movie-makers, etc.). See and feel that Love itself is serving you and bringing you presents, not because you have earned them, but because Love is overflowing with love for you.

These, of course, can be good qualities, but in excess they can create a life that can feel burdensome and wearing. At their worst, these qualities steal from others their opportunity to blossom into their full potential.
