I have never before had such a ripping good time. The games banquet and dance and Pine (?) Run C. C. were lovely. And I won a prize, too. Imagine it. Next to the last couple on the floor with the batoon* dance. Had the lucky number dance with Mr. Parr. Ed Schular escorted me to and fro. Bill Buckley was my dinner partner. Ed is so thoughtful! He paid me several compliments without a lot of idle flattery. That "Silver Moon" solo. I like Ed better than anybody I have ever known. I love you, John. This week has seemed very long with Mamie here and not seeing you since last Monday and you forgot to call me yesterday. "Forgetfulness." Oh my! I had the honor of the first dance with Mr. Brinton, our president.

ContextThis is the journal of Virginia Lee Scott, my grandmother, written when she was seventeen and first dating my grandfather, John Arnold Wilson. It's a dairy published by Media Drug Stores and includes space for two entries per day, with facts about the era printed at the bottom, which I have included in italics. Following, 1928, is the journal of John Arnold Wilson, my grandfather, at age nineteen and in love with my grandmother, followed by my grandmother's journal in 1931. Archives
