Today, again, borrow some form of the self-compassion break. Acknowledge your uncomfortable feelings, small or large, with some version of the phrase, "This is a moment of suffering." Notice it. Remember that other people in the world feel the same way. You are not alone. This is a human experience. Offer yourself kindness. "May I be kind to myself." Offer yourself a blessing, perhaps this one borrowed from Buddhism: "May I be happy. May I be well. May I be free from suffering."
This process can actually keep our difficult feelings in proper perspective and allow them to pass through naturally. Resisting, fearing, or judging them can exaggerate their power.
